The Cardinal load cell weigh-in-motion scale consists of two rugged steel platforms each supported by four compression strain gage load cells (a cross-section is shown to the left).
Each platform is designed to weigh one half of each vehicle axle. The two platforms make up a weighing surface that is 12 feet (3.7 m) wide by 30 inches (.76 m) long and can weigh and classify vehicles.
Cardinal load cell weigh-in-motion scales are used in highway weigh stations and ports of entry to identify heavily loaded vehicles and direct them to a static scale for enforcement weighing. They are generally used in applications where extremely high accuracy is required for weighing vehicles moving at 2 to around 40 miles per hour.
Cardinal weigh-in-motion systems may also include automatic vehicle identification (AVI) equipment to identify transponder equipped trucks passing over the scale. Static scales, over-height sensors, and an integrated traffic control network can also be added for a complete enforcement screening station solution.
Cardinal weigh-in-motion systems can be custom tailored to meet your specific requirements. Let our WIM Specialists help you with your weighing-in-motion application.
